Sandra L. Pratt is a Romantic Still Life oil painter in the Realist manner. She is proud to have been accepted as a member of the prestigious Oil Painters of America.

As a student of the late master painter, Roberto Lupetti, she developed her lifelong passion for sparkling silver, ornately gilded rare books, and antique laces, all translated to a painted canvas. It is a sharing of the love of wonderful things that one senses in her paintings. The viewer is drawn into a world of discovery and quiet contemplation.

“I have found,” said Mrs. Pratt, “that to truly know an object, one must delve deeply. Drawing and painting an object puts me in touch with its essence. I caress its contours with the brush and know it intimately.”

The works of this Carmel artist are often viewed with a magnifying glass as the observer discovers the tiny hairs on a strawberry, water droplets on a grape, or a magical garden hidden in the reflection of an unseen room in a silver pitcher. In addition to that of Sr. Lupetti, artistic influences that have shaped her work include those of the Flemish artists Jan van Huysum, Rembrandt and Vermeer. Her travels and study in Italy have also had a strong effect on her work.

As a vocalist, music is another part of Mrs. Pratt’s being. It is reflected in her works incorporating musical instruments such as violins, recorders and mandolins. Old tattered music sheets also play an occasional part in these compositions.

Paintings are available as Limited Edition Giclees, Printed with archival inks on canvas or Archival Paper . They are numbered and signed, and enhanced by the hand of the artist.

Mrs. Pratt’s art has been shown in galleries in Carmel, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Palm Springs and La Jolla, California. Her paintings are collected in Europe as well as the United States. Her Studio is located in Carmel, California.
